1. Spookley Pumpkin Festival!

For a new wholesome family experience this October, come to the Spookley Pumpkin Festival at Farrington’s!

Pick from thousands of home-grown pumpkins from our own pumpkin patch, carve Spookley shapes and try some seasonal pumpkin dishes. Or cosy up and listen to the heart-warming story of Spookley, the square shaped pumpkin and watch the Spookley film.

Supporting the national anti-bullying week, Spookley tells the story of a square pumpkin who lives in a pumpkin patch with a crop of round pumpkins. His appearance leads to him being bullied by the other vegetables because he is a different shape.

Our hero goes on to save the day and becomes friends with the other pumpkins. It’s a lovely tale is one that children and adults can all relate to, helping children to accept differences in people and help them to talk about their own problems or concerns in a positive way. The festival supports an anti-bullying theme supported by schools across America and now in the UK and is the only one of its kind in the South West, outside Devon and Cornwall.

The B&NES Anti-Bullying Strategy Group wholeheartedly support the Spookley Anti-Bullying Project at Farrington’s Farm Shop. We are sending out the information to all local school urging them to get involved. “ Kate Murphy, Chair of the AB Strategy Group, B&NES.

  8. Pick Pink for Dorothy House!

This year we’re encouraging everyone to ‘Pick- Pink’ for Dorothy House when the gates open to our pick-your-own tulip field!

We have planted 5000 pink tulips alongside our 50,000 PYO flowers to celebrate the charity’s 40th anniversary. Proceeds from the sale of pink ones will be donated to Dorothy House, who provide care for terminally ill patients over the age of 18 at their Winsley hospice.

The pink tulip features prominently on the charity’s logo so partnering with Farrington’s was a logical step for Dorothy House Community Fundraiser, Yvonne Brunton. Owner
