Farrington’s Farm Shop is based at Home Farm, an idyllic 400 acre working Organic Vegetable farm in the Somerset village of Farrington Gurney. We are lucky enough to be based on a working farm where we produce an array of organic vegetables which we grow, pick and deliver to our Farm Shop. Not only do we grow our own produce, but we also have a production kitchen onsite which produces a wide range of homemade, seasonal products for our Farm Shop, Deli and Cafe. This, teamed with delights from local suppliers, allows us to provide our local community with high quality produce all year round.
We're looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals to join our kitchen team as we enter our next exciting chapter here on the farm. You'll need to be passionate about working with fresh, seasonal produce, whilst being able to demonstrate knowledge of current trends within food and drink and help contribute to menu development.
The Role: Our busy cafes are open seven days a week, with kitchen shifts taking place generally between 8am-5pm through out the year.
As a destination venue, we're known in the local area for our fantastic farmhouse breakfasts, homemade cakes and afternoon teas through out the week. More recently, we've enjoyed the huge success of relaunching our Sunday roasts which are fully booked most weeks.
Despite these recent achievements, we still have huge aspirations to develop and create beautiful seasonal menus, with the produce grown on our farm being at the forefront of our culinary direction.
As Cafe Chef, you'll be working as part of a small and friendly kitchen team. You will report directly to our Head Chef and Cafe Manager, who will be encouraging the kitchen team to contribute to ideas and suggestions of how our kitchen team operates.
We want our kitchen team to have a say in the direction we take our food offering and so we’ll be asking you to contribute to menu ideas and general service discussions to improve the quality and variety of food served to our customers.
A passion for fresh food is essential, and we’ll be expecting our kitchen team to utilise the variety of organic vegetables we grow here on the farm to develop our offering. We're so proud of the produce we grow, and we want you to be too!
Due to our location, use of your own vehicle is necessary or access to public transport to Farrington Gurney.
Responsibilities: - General food preparation and delivery of menu items through service in a professional and organised manner. - Adhere to all food hygiene and compliance rules of working in a professional kitchen - Contribute to menu ideas and food presentation whilst aspiring to showcase the produce which is grown here on the farm.
Requirements: · Proven experience in commercial kitchens · Level 2 Food hygiene certificate · Sound knowledge of food safety regulations · Exemplary management and leadership skills · Excellent organisation and time management skills · Efficient communication skills
**No split shifts** though occasional 'one off ' evenings may be required depending on the demands of the business
