Farrington’s is a family-run 400-acre arable farm in Somerset. We are heavily diversified with a farm shop, café, playbarn and outdoor play park as well as hosting popular seasonal events, including our well-known Pumpkin Festival.
Job overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking General Farm Hand to support daily operations on our agricultural property. This role involves a variety of tasks essential to maintaining the farm’s productivity and health. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth running of farm activities, mainly supporting the Farm Manager day-to-day. This role is part time and hours will vary depending on the needs of the business, so flexibility is required.
Duties
Conducting basic farm maintenance tasks such as fencing repairs, gate installation and landscape upkeep
Supporting crop planting, harvesting and general horticultural activities as needed
Assisting with potato handling, including sorting, grading, bagging and loading
Chopping, splitting and moving firewood/logs as required
Assisting with workshop tidiness and carrying out basic maintenance tasks

Maintaining clean, safe and organised yard, storage and working areas
Supporting general day-to-day farm operations as required
Potentially supporting with the broader Farrington's business, for example, helping during seasonal events
Requirements
Reliable, punctual and willing to work flexibly during busy seasonal periods
Physically fit and able to carry out manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
Comfortable with heavy lifting and practical tasks
Ability to follow instructions and work safely
Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills
Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential
Previous agricultural, construction, landscaping or outdoor manual work experience would be an advantage but is not essential
Must be able to reliably commute to Ruett Lane, Farrington Gurney, BS39
